Additional Thoughts On Selecting a Sportsbook   by John Wise

For years, I have been getting telemarketing calls from the same sportsbook. I have seen their ads somewhere before but have never seen them with advertising on the internet. Naturally, I don't go everywhere you can go on the web, but I do get around and don't see them running ads anywhere.

I have given up on telling them to remove me from their calling list. And they are certainly persistent. I hung up on one salesman once only to have him call me back and tell me how rude I was. Then I think we hung up on each other. Just recently, I asked a caller from that book, "Do you advertise with WiseWagering.com?". He said he had never heard of it. That hurt, and for days. But I told him that when his book starts advertising with WiseWagering, I would consider playing there. I still couldn't get him off the phone.

The most recent caller from that book was from the same mold. I explained to him that I had a website with sponsors. He listened to me as I told him that I felt obligated to play with only people advertising on my site. I thought I had gotten through to him. But as it turned out, he just had to tell me about his book's special bonuses. Click. But he or they will be back. I will never play with that sportsbook. They have turned name recognition into a negative for themselves.

Here is a thought for you. Why should you jump on board with a sportsbook that calls you and tells you exactly what THEY want to tell you? I want to hear about them from the gambling public. And where better than the forums. The forums that promote the good products. Am I the only one that tries to promote the best ones? I wish. Go to as many forums as you can find and become as knowledgeable as you can. Am I the foremost expert. No sir. But I am trying my best to become credible.

Naturally I am in business with this site to make money from advertising. Hopefully you all understand that. But I take a sense of pride in bringing the best information that I possibly can to my site users. Hopefully, this helps someone.

I forget where I heard this saying, but I love it. "What you do today with the information that you have determines whether you will succeed tomorrow." Something like that, anyway. Hope I didn't butcher it too badly.
